Health and Housing Initiative
ARCHI is advancing health equity by addressing one of the most critical social determinants of health: housing.
Health & Housing:
A Shared Foundation for Equity
ARCHI’s work at the intersection of health and housing was catalyzed by a 2019 grant from The Kresge Foundation’s Advancing Health Equity through Housing initiative.

Through this partnership, ARCHI addresses Atlanta's most pressing housing concerns with support from key partners.
ARCHI's Health and Housing Anchors
ARCHI coordinates tiered, whole-person care with housing supports and mobilizes hospitals and payers to co-invest in affordable housing, often with onsite services. We are anchored in two main priorities: to reduce crisis service use while expanding the housing supply the where need is greatest.

Improved Care
Coordinate whole-person care with housing supports using tiered services, real care navigation, and behavioral health access so residents move from crisis use of ERs and shelters to stable, sustained wellness.

Health System Investment
Convene metro Atlanta hospitals and payers to co-invest in affordable housing with onsite services—translating community benefit and value-based savings into new housing production where needs are highest.

Leveraging Technology
A Coordinated Solution for Eviction Prevention
ARCHI launched a Rent, Mortgage and Utility Relief portal to address the growing housing crisis in Atlanta. The portal has streamlined access to over $5 million in aid from partner organizations, helping residents cover housing and utility expenses while reducing administrative burdens for agencies.
Through a universal application, residents are automatically matched to eligible assistance, eliminating the need to contact multiple agencies or duplicate paperwork. Partner agencies gain efficiency by receiving pre-screened applicants.
Launched in October 2023, the portal has already processed nearly 100,000 applications, underscoring the urgent need for coordinated housing relief and its significant community impact.
